Abstract

Paraiyisai is one of the finest folk art forms that is being performed all over the world today. It has been an indispensable art in people’s lives. It is emerging as an indispensable art form of students in school, college and university-based educational institutions. In the 4th century A.D., from the big temples to the smaller temples in Tamil Nadu, the devotees performed the worship of the deity by making the sound of the paraisai instrument. The evidence for this has been found from inscriptions and literature.
