Abstract

Medicine is the art and science of curing diseases. It is the science or activity that helps to detect, cure and prevent diseases. These activities include various health maintenance processes designed to maintain and restore human health. Modern medicine uses health sciences, biomedicine, biomedical research, and medical technology to diagnose and treat injuries and diseases. Such healing is often done through drugs, surgery, and other treatments. Medical technology and expertise are essential to modern medicine, but understanding of human emotions and compassion continue to be needed to reduce the real suffering of patients. Realizing such needs in the art of medicine, this article describes the contribution of Islam or Muslims to the development of medical field.
