Abstract

Inscriptions and copper plates are mirrors of Indian history. Though the copper plates refer to grants of land, grants and temple renovations, there are also references to the dynastic and wars of kings. It was during the Pallava period that Saiva and Vaishnava devotional literature flourished. It is no exaggeration to say that the Pallavas are credited with the largest number of copper plates of this kind. The purpose of this study is to study the various donations known from the copper plates left by them.
