Abstract

Copper plates are the earliest archaeological evidence available to know about the ancient period. It is a rare historical document discovered by archaeologists. They are named by the place where they were found. However, copper plates cannot be attributed locally only on the basis of their findings. Since it is easy to transport these copperplates from one place to another, it is not possible to ascertain the availability of these copperplates. So far, 1561 copper plates have been discovered in India. However, in view of the scope of the study, this study is aimed at studying the historical facts of Tamil Nadu, especially the copper plates of the Moovendar period, the administrative methods of the kingdom, temples, administration, donations, endowments, hereditary administration etc.
