Abstract

The purpose of the article ‘Porul Saara Panbaadu in Pichipoo Novel’ is to know the cultural essence of the people of Kumari district as recorded in the Ponnilan works. Materialistic culture includes cultural elements that do not take on a material form. People’s opinions, customs, ethics, cognition, aesthetic thoughts, restrictions, exceptions, worship practices, cults, etc. are the measurements that help to measure materialistic culture. This article sets out to explore the basics of materialistic culture, such as the denial of education, concessions to converts, the priest’s curse, its sacrifice, the town’s custom of feasting on robbers, and Aandichami’s dream, as reported in Ponnilan’s novel.
