Vadalur Ramalinga Adigal, popularly known as Arutprakasa Vallalar, was born in 1823 in Marudur, next to Chidambaram. His father died when he was a child and he had to migrate to Chennai. Then he started studying. But he had no interest in education. He spent his time worshiping Lord Murugan. Thiruvarutha is a collection of songs sung by many who have been involved in spirituality since childhood. This person refused to engage in domestic life and practiced monastic life.
